SAF 2507 is a super duplex stainless steel, this alloy is designed for applications that require high strength and corrosion resistance. The dual-phase structure gives it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. The high content of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen makes it excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion, especially suitable for corrosive environments, such as warm chlorinated seawater and acidic and chloride-containing media. The low carbon content greatly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation at the grain boundaries during the heat treatment process, and thus has a strong resistance to carbide-related intergranular corrosion. 2507 has high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion rate, and can be used in heat exchangers and water heaters. The impact strength is also high, but it is not suitable for use in a temperature environment higher than 600°F, otherwise its toughness and corrosion resistance will be reduced.
