Hastelloy X is a heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy. It is known for its excellent oxidation resistance and high temperature resistance, capable of high strength up to 1500ºF (816ºC) and conditions up to 2200ºF (1204ºC) It still maintains excellent oxidation resistance. All its products are excellent in forming and welding. It can be forged and can be cold-worked due to its good ductility. It can be welded by manual and automatic methods, including shielded metal arc, tungsten gas shielded arc, gas shielded metal arc and submerged arc technology. The alloy can also be resistance welded. For hot forming, the alloy should be heated to a starting temperature of 2150° F (1175°C). At the same time, this alloy has good resistance to carburization and nitriding, and these two conditions are likely to cause premature failure of other superalloys. This is one of the characteristics of HASTELLOY X superior to other alloys. In addition, its resistance to stress corrosion cracking is strong, so it is widely used in high-temperature jet engines, chemical processing, petrochemical and other applications.
1. Good strength at high temperature and superior oxidation resistance
2. Good resistance to carburization and nitriding
3. Good machinability, ductility, and strong weldability
4. Excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking
