Inconel Alloy 725 is a nickel-chromium alloy with addition of molybdenum, niobium and titanium. The high content of nickel and chromium ensures its corrosion resistance and stress corrosion cracking resistance in reducing and oxidizing environments. Titanium can inhibit intergranular corrosion. A large amount of molybdenum content enhances the resistance to reducing media and the ability to resist pitting and crevice corrosion. In addition, the combination of various elements makes the alloy provide excellent resistance to the conditions in sour oil and gas wells containing carbon dioxide, chloride and hydrogen sulfide. Inconel 725 can obtain extremely high strength through age hardening, reaching twice the strength of Inconel alloy 625 under annealing conditions. Inconel 725 was developed through heat treatment rather than cold working, so it retains high ductility and toughness. In addition, it is possible to impart strength to large or uneven parts that cannot be reinforced by cold working.
