Ni 200/201 is a commercial forged pure nickel that is solid solution strengthened. The carbon content is controlled below 0.02% to avoid embrittlement by intercrystalline precipitates at high temperatures. It has good corrosion resistance in a neutral to moderately reducing environment and an oxidizing medium that can generate a passive oxide film, and it is not affected by chloride stress corrosion cracking. Nickel 200/201 also has excellent resistance in distilled water, natural water, and high-speed flowing seawater. However, in stagnant or very low-speed seawater, severe local erosion may occur under fouling organisms or other sediments.
Compared with nickel alloy, stainless steel and low alloy steel, commercial pure nickel has higher electrical and thermal conductivity. It also has a high Curie temperature and good magnetostrictive properties. Ni 200/201 has excellent mechanical properties in a wide temperature range, low hardness and good ductility after annealing. These properties, combined with its good weldability, greatly increase the workability of the metal. Nickel 200 is approved for use at temperatures up to 600° F, while Nickel 201 is more popular because it has a lower carbon content, which makes the material resistant to graphitization and not easy to embrittlement. It is approved for use at temperatures up to 1230 When used at a temperature of °F, it has low matrix hardness and low work hardening rate, which is especially suitable for cold forming.
When shaping nickel 200/201, all hot and cold working methods can be used. The hot working temperature should be between 1200°F and 2250°F, and the reshaping should be performed at a temperature above 1600°F. Annealing should be done between 1300° F and 1600° F. Nickel 200/201 can be easily welded by conventional welding, brazing and brazing processes, with the exception of the oxyacetylene process.
● Excellent resistance to many corrosive substances (especially hydroxides)
● Excellent corrosion resistance
● Good electrical, thermal and magnetostrictive properties
● Resistant to all dry gases at room temperature and dry chlorine and hydrogen chloride
● Sulfur-containing atmosphere is corrosive to the nickel alloy
● Good weldability, ductility and low work hardening rate
● Suitable for all hot and cold working methods
